DURHAM, N.C.— Former Duke University women's soccer standout Ella Stevens has inked a deal with the Chicago Red Stars of the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) as announced Friday.
Stevens and the Red Stars will wrap up the NWSL Fall Series Saturday, Oct. 10 against Duke alumna Imani Dorsey and the Sky Blue FC at 12:30 p.m. (ET) live on CBS All-Access.
A 2020 Blue Devil graduate, Stevens was selected with the 24th pick in the NWSL Draft this past year and saw limited action with the Red Stars during the 2020 NWSL Challenge Cup.
"Ella has been training with the Red Stars since we returned from the Challenge Cup," said Chicago head coach Roy Dames. "She put in the work, recovered from her injury and integrated with the team beautifully. She's going to make a great addition."
Stevens proved to be an offensive catalyst for Duke in 2020, earning All-Region honors for the third time in her career. The Grayson, Ga., native was also named to the All-ACC Second Team this past year, marking the fourth year receiving conference honors.
In 2020, she tied for the team lead in points with 22, while tying for second in goals scored with eight. Her 82 career points placed her sixth all-time in Duke history, while ranking amongst the top five in program history in career goals scored (24) and career assists (34).
Stevens joins fellow Blue Devils in the NWSL Fall Series –Dorsey (Sky Blue FC), Kayla McCoy (Houston) and Morgan Reid (Orlando).
