NAMPA, Idaho — The final game of the series had multiple twists and turns. The Western Oregon University softball team rallied to tie the game in the sixth and after the game went clear to the 10th inning, Northwest Nazarene was able to claim the 6-5 victory. Earlier in the day, the Nighthawks took Saturday's opener 8-0 in six innings.

In game two, WOU (5-7) came out strong plating a pair of runs in the first inning. Aleya Turner walked and eventually made it to third on a passed ball and wild pitch. Logan Carlos walked and then stole second to put runners at second and third. Isabelle Lewis drove in the first run of the game with a sacrifice fly to right. Chandler Bishop brought in the second run with another sacrifice fly leaving WOU with the 2-0 lead.

NNU (17-3) came back with three runs in the first and then added two more in the fifth to open a 5-2 lead.

The Wolves came roaring back in the sixth. Erica Soliz, playing in her first game of the season, walked to open the frame. After an out, Sydney Bowers was hit-by-pitch to put runners at first and second. Allyson Drury was also hit-by-pitch to load the bases. Bailey Kahele delivered with a single through the right side to bring in both Soliz and Bowers. Sophie Franklin tied the game when she hit a sacrifice fly to the shortstop out in the outfield to plate Drury to even the score at five.

Eventually the game moved into extra innings with the Nighthawks having the best chance early on in the eighth. With two on, Reilly Tidwell was able to get a line out and strikeout to end the inning and move the game into the ninth.

WOU put a runner on in the ninth with a single from Carlos and she would eventually reach second before a strikeout ended the inning. Tidwell worked around another tough jam in the ninth with the bases loaded, a lineout to right ended the inning and sent the game to the 10th.

The game moved into international tiebreaker rules placing a runner on second to begin each half inning. WOU was able to move the runner to third, but a groundout to shortstop and flyout left the runner stranded.

In the home half, NNU had a walk and a throwing error loaded the bases for Audree Montmeny who drew the walk for the RBI allowing the winning run to score for the 6-5 win in 10 innings.

NNU held a 10-8 edge in hits as eight Wolves tallied a hit. Bishop started in the circle and went the first two innings allowing three earned runs. Soliz made her debut in the circle going the next four innings allowing just two earned runs. Tidwell pitched again after her no-hitter on Friday allowing just a hit and no runs over three innings of work. Maddie Mayer ended up with the loss (0-3) as the unearned run scored in the 10th.

Brittany Genuardi, Sidney Booth and Madison Strickler led the Nighthawks with two hits apiece. Genuardi drove in three runs. In the circle, Maia McNicoll started and went the first 5.1 innings giving up five earned runs. Gina Skinner went the final 4.2 innings to earn the win (1-0) allowing no runs and just two hits.

During the first game of the day, NNU used a pair of three-run innings in the first and third to open a big lead on their way to taking the 8-0 win in six innings.

WOU threatened in the second when Kirah McGlothan singled and moved to third on an error by the left fielder. Bowers walked to put runners at the corners. A foul out and groundout ended the threat.

Jackie Vargas held WOU to just six hits over her six innings of work in the circle to claim the win (4-0). The Nighthawks held a 12-2 advantage in hits with Isabelle Lewis and McGlothan picking up the hits for the Wolves.

Genuardi led NNU with three hits, while Booth added a pair of hits. McNicoll drove in four runs.

Jada Young started in the circle for the Wolves and ended up with the loss (2-1) going three innings and allowing six earned runs. Mayer went the final 2.1 innings and allowed two earned runs.

WOU and NNU will turn right back around and face each other this coming week in Monmouth as the teams will begin a four-game GNAC series starting this Friday at 1 p.m.
