Emma Landis Leads Lancers with Top-Five Finish

Women's Golf /

MORGANTON, N.C. – Freshman Emma Landis moved up four spots in Monday's final round to finish a career-best fifth, as Longwood women's golf closed the Mimosa Hills Intercollegiate in fifth place.

Landis' finish marks the second-consecutive tournament in which a Lancer has placed in the top-five, as Diana Domenech finished the Kingsmill Intercollegiate in fourth on March 30. Landis was consistent through all three rounds, ending each outing with the same score at 77-77-77—231 (+15) to hold herself steady in the top-ten.

Monday's performance marks the second-straight tournament in which Landis has finished in the top-10, as the Virginia Beach, Va. native has now placed in the top-15 in three of her four appearances to begin her collegiate career. The freshman finished T-13th in Eagle Invitational on March 9 before following with a T-7th finish at the Kingsmill Intercollegiate.

Her 76 (+4) final round was the lowest score of the day for Longwood as she climbed six spots on the leader board on Tuesday, the most in the field. Freshman Annabelle Jennings joined her in the top-20, ending at T-19th with scores of 79-80-80—239 (+23) as she has now placed in the top-20 in the first two starts of her collegiate career.

Grace Huffman and Bobbi Uhl each ended their rounds on a strong note, as Uhl posted a 77 (+5) and Huffman fired a 78 (+6) in their final 18 holes. Huffman's final card of 78-86-78—242 (+26) was good for T-23rd, while Uhl finished T-27th with final scores of 89-79-77—245 (+29).

As a team, the Lancers tied for the second lowest score of the day at 308 (+20), ending with final scores of 315-316-308—939 (+75), their second lowest score to par in 2021.
