A Mt. Pleasant man is accused of attempting to flee the scene of an accident in East Huntingdon, providing alcohol to three juveniles and resisting arrest.
Daniel Sebulsky, 36, was arrested on multiple criminal charges including assaulting a law enforcement officer, corruption of minors, DUI, furnishing alcohol to minors and institutional vandalism after the incident at 11:30 p.m. Friday along Overholt Drive.
Trooper Eric Kuhse reported that he saw Sebulsky’s 2012 Subaru Forester “make an abrupt turn into an embankment” on the 200 block of the rural roadway and watched as three juveniles and Sebulsky got out of the SUV to check on the damage.
As Kuhse approached with his vehicle’s emergency lights on, he said Sebulsky and the youths attempted to quickly get back in the vehicle and flee the scene.
Kuhse said Sebulsky “lightly struck” his knee with the bumper of his SUV as he tried to get away. Troopers used pepper spray to subdue Sebulsky and he refused repeated orders to get out of the vehicle as he continued attempts to flee, according to police reports.
When Mutual Aid paramedics arrived to treat Sebulsky, Kuhse said he continued yelling obscenities at officers and kicked the windows of a patrol car, where he was handcuffed and placed in the back seat.
The juveniles told troopers that Sebulsky told them that if they “told anyone where they got the alcohol from, he had an AK rifle at home and that he would kill them,” Kuhse reported.
Kuhse reported that police confiscated multiple empty containers of Fireball Cinnamon Whisky and Four Loko malt beverages from inside the vehicle.
Court records show that Sebulsky refused a DUI blood test.
Kuhse said despite two lacerations sustained by Sebulsky to his face as he was taken into custody, he continued resisting arrest and refused treatment by paramedics.
In addition to kicking a trooper, Sebulsky injured Kuhse’s hand as he attempted to free himself from his handcuffs while at the police station.
According to online court dockets, Sebulsky is awaiting trial for fleeing state troopers and driving under the influence of alcohol after a 12.5 mile chase in central Westmoreland County in August 2019. He also has pending burglary and theft charges filed by state police in connection with a July 22 incident in Mt. Pleasant Township.
Sebulsky was ordered held in the county prison on $10,000 bond on the new charges. A preliminary hearing is scheduled April 14.
