The Jaguars continue to add to their defensive backfield by selecting Syracuse safety Andre Cisco with the 65th overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.
Cisco, a junior from Valley Stream, New York, is a certified ballhawk, notching 12 interceptions in his first two years along with two forced fumbles. Cisco shows excellent range and timing, and always seems to always know where the ball is going. Production is the name of Cisco’s game and his sideline to sideline range is rare.
Cisco did have a season ending injury in 2020, tearing his ACL less than halfway into the year. If his medicals check out then Cisco is a fantastic pickup for Jacksonville.
The Jaguars had arguably the worst safety play in the NFL. Despite promising showings from rookie Daniel Thomas, the other safeties didn’t play up to par. Most of the safeties in the position room also fit more of a donwhill tackler that lacks the range and playmaking of Cisco. If he’s healthy, Cisco should start immediately at free safety.
